Paradox of the Self

Mural made in collaoration with the kids of WonderFolk, we worked together to create a design that focuses on finding safe space with openess around mental wellbeing and emotional paradox’s- how our different emotions can co-exist.  

We asked questions like “How does a person experience and perceive emotions like anger, sadness, and fear as distinct events or a combination of all?” WonderFolk develops youth who want to define their own life. We remove barriers to access and help diverse youth find their voice in activism and community engagement. With community projects its important to include a myriad of stories, perspectives and experiences are represented in my work. Authentic inclusion means creating a robust container for people to feel known, recognized and a sense of belonging. I want my artwork to evoke a spirit of togetherness, reciprocity and interdependence centering the tenets of community, care and love. The sharing and exchange of resources, food and water amplifies the message of unity even more.
